has a new opportunity for **Environmental,Fisheries, and Wildlife Technicians** to join our team in our **Fort St. John, Castlegar, Terrace,Victoria or Vancouver** offices. As an Environmental, Fisheries, and Wildlife
Technician, you will join an entire team that will work away from the home
office for extended periods of time. This position is a **seasonal, hourly contract** for a set term with the possibility of

overview of your role will include:

+ Safety during field operations

+ Participating in field programs (e.g., environmental monitoring, fish and fish habitat assessments, fish salvage, water quality, benthic invertebrates, sediment, vegetation and wildlife) for various types of projects including urban development, power, mines, infrastructure, and oil and gas

+ Planning for logistics and equipment

+ Acting as a crew member for simple to complex field programs

+ Quality control of field data collection

+ Data entry

+ Assisting with report preparation

will have the following skills and attributes:

+ Technical diploma or degree (Fish and Wildlife Technician, BSc in Biology or equivalent program, or appropriate field-specific training programs)

+ Strong commitment to health and safety

+ Level 1 First Aid with CPR and AED

+ Understanding of the functioning of terrestrial and aquatic ecosystems within BC

+ Understanding of various basic survey, sample and data collection techniques (e.g., ecosystems, vegetation, wildlife and wildlife habitat, fish and fish habitat, water quality, benthic invertebrates, sediment)

+ Working knowledge and proficiency in the use of basic field navigation and survey equipment such as GPS, compass, clinometer, water quality meters, etc.

+ Self-starter and able to work effectively in a team environment

+ Effective communication skills and attention to detail

+ Valid Class 5 driver's licence (note - Golder collects abstracts / Motor Vehicle Records for all new and current employees identified as Golder Drivers.)

+ Willingness to perform physically demanding work in various weather conditions

+ Backpack electrofishing crew member or crew supervisor certification (preferred)

+ Swift water rescue technician certification (preferred)

+ Please note that based on client requirements, staff can be subject to random drug and alcohol testing

Experience with the following would be considered an asset:

+ Environmental management and monitoring of construction projects

+ Experience with large bodied and small bodied fish sampling, identification and handling

+ Experience with various fish collection methods like electrofishing, seine netting, and minnow trapping

+ Experience in vegetation surveys, plant identification, and vegetation and ecosystem restoration and management activities. Experience with terrestrial ecosystem mapping activities would be considered an asset

+ Experience conducting general wildlife, species at risk surveys, and associated management activities such as planning and conducting those for wildlife habitat, large and medium mammals, migratory birds, raptors, bird nests, small mammal, and amphibian surveys and salvages

+ Experience working with boats and motors, ATVs/Argos, and mechanical troubleshooting. Small vessel operator proficiency certificate is required to operate boats

+ Good outdoor and survival skills and experience working and navigating in remote areas
