We are currently looking to hire a Junior Environmental Technologist to join our Environment and Water Practice in our Nanaimo, BC office.

The successful applicant will work with intermediate and senior environmental scientists and engineers that are committed to providing mentorship and technical skills training in order to advance the development of our people.



This position will commence employment in late June 2018.



Responsibilities



o Conducting Phase I, II Environmental Site Assessments.


o Groundwater and surface water sampling.


o Soil vapour sampling.


o Remediation and spill response.


o Reviewing current BC technical guidance and new technical guidance and applying these to projects under technical supervision.


o Working with Project Managers/Discipline Teams to maintain quality control of data.


o Maintaining current knowledge of leading edge contaminated sites practices.


o Data analysis and reporting (proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook).


o Equipment calibration and maintenance.




Qualifications:

o Diploma in environmental engineering technology / science. Students nearing completion of their diploma will be considered.


o Some related contaminated sites experience would be considered an asset.


o Some related environmental consulting experience in Western Canada including BC would be considered an asset.


o Knowledge of BC environmental regulations.


o Ability to work effectively with multi-disciplinary project teams.


o Exceptional interpersonal skills and ability to build long-term, successful professional relationships with colleagues.


o Excellent written and verbal communication skills.


o Problem solving skills.


o Health and Safety awareness for various types of projects.


o Must possess a valid Class 5 Driver's License and must provide current drivers abstract when applying.


o Be physically capable of performing the manual labour duties required.


o CAD and/or GIS skills would be considered and asset.


o Travel and occasional working extended hours is a requirement of the role.
