Senior Program Manager - Process Improvement - Project Managemen

Ready to create new opportunities in unchartered territory?
Join our team!
Your Lean Six Sigma and Project Management Skills will shine like never before in this exciting fast-paced role.
The Project Management Office (PMO) within Broadband Implementation is a group of high performing project leaders accountable for connecting BC and Alberta homes and businesses to TELUS' high speed fibre network.
We are highly cross-functional and committed to the experience of our customers, our TELUS team members and our ambitious externally-owned delivery partners. Our PMO owns the schedule and capital management which supports end to end delivery: Planning & Engineering, Materials, Construction and connection of fibre to the side of homes.
Your personal growth within role is as important to us - as it is to you!
Here's the impact you'll make and what we'll accomplish together!
Over the last few years, our program has acted as start-up within TELUS: talented team members bootstrapped processes (e.g. spreadsheets, email workflow, stakeholder commitments etc.). Even with humble start-up processes, our program delivered stellar results: connected remote communities, upgraded hundreds of thousand of homes to blazingly- fast fibre internet and TV, all while managing low variance on billions of investment dollars along the way.
Now, the opportunity is to transform bootstrapped processes with more sustainable processes and systems that will be used for the next decade throughout TELUS. You will be pivotal in owning/delivering that new vision.
Our team aims to leverage more formalized process improvement (e.g. Six Sigma/Lean or Agile methodology) in a greater way than we have before. The new capabilities that you will develop and implement will standardize our internal practices and protect our relationships with stakeholder groups.
Functional owners and project managers who are running operations will shower you with gratefulness as your new capabilities help them focus on generating real insights and recommendations. Your processes will save them from the drudgery of chasing transactions, or the ambiguity they currently face in piecing together disparate data and comments.
In this role, you are the owner and enabler of all tried and true process practices (we want someone who is not scared of big, meaty projects).
What this means to you is - you will assess each step of the employee journey using data, visual representation of the story, failure mode analysis, redesign when necessary, strong governance support and most importantly change management.
Your final output will include the replacement of processes from manual email, spreadsheets and reports towards defined workflow in systems such as Atlassian - JIRA, DOMO, Adaptive and other capabilities. Along with the implementation of these new tools, you will quantify and reinforce how improvements are continually making life better for team members, partners and generating value.
You will structure improvements into sprints and iterations which create immediate value. Instead of ad-hoc fixes, you will continually communicate a strategic roadmap of capabilities which you prioritize with support of your key stakeholders.
Here's how...
Your weeks will fly by as you focus on a mix of: peer interactions, stakeholder engagement, working time and most importantly, white space to focus on strategic thinking and design.
After implementing some known priority improvements, you will then identify new process opportunity to improve the effectiveness of stakeholders across the process.
You will collaborate with a large group of cross functional partners including: all functions within Broadband Implementation: Planning & Engineering, Materials Management, Construction, Drop Placement, Community Data Integrity, Facilities, Marketing.
We know family and work life balance are important to you and strive to respect your personal needs and boundaries. Being based in BC or Alberta, you will facilitate in-person sessions near your headquarters (HQ) office, and leverage teleconference technology to collaborate with others across BC and Alberta.
You're the missing piece of the puzzle...
Your background learning brings value to the role. We are looking for:
* Bachelor degree or 5 years' equivalent experience
* 2-3 years' experience applying Lean, Six Sigma, Agile or other process improvement methodologies
* 2-3 years' project management or consulting experience
To succeed in your role, you will want to be skilled in:
* Structured program management: Delivery of new capabilities in recognizable sprints or iterations which advanced a strategic roadmap of improvements, new opportunities and process fixes
* Facilitation of large groups including tight interlock with senior leadership; this is best accomplished through being certified (or in progress toward) either or Lean Six Sigma (LSS) Green Belt (External/Non-TELUS certifications subject to evaluation) and a certified Project Management Professional (PMP) and/or Master of Business Administration (MBA) degree holder would be an asset
