Job Description

Job Summary:

We are looking to hire a motivated and enthusiastic Support Engineer to join our Support and Applications Team based in our Richmond, Canada office. In this role, you will provide technical assistance to users of FLIR's advanced digital cameras. FLIR's products are often incorporated into large and complex applications by highly educated and technically knowledgeable users, resulting in unique and challenging problems to solve.

As a Support Engineer, you are the link between engineering, distributors, customers and sales. Your goal is to generate technical solutions and help our customers be successful in integrating our components into their end product. You will use existing products and concepts to work out system solutions for customers.

You will receive training to gain in depth knowledge about our development, testing and sales process. Since you will be in direct contact with customers, this job requires excellent communication skills.

This position is ideal for junior or intermediate level engineers that enjoy working with people through complex problems.

Required Skills & Education

+ Diploma or degree in computer systems technology or software development (IT certificates not accepted)

+ 2+ years' experience in a Technical Support capacity

+ Fluent in English - spoken and written, other languages would be an asset

+ Exceptional problem solving and communication skills

+ Excellent all-around technical knowledge (PC hardware, software, general programming)

+ Strong customer service skills and/or support experience

+ Ability to be responsible, reliable, and well organized

+ Good knowledge of C, C++ or other object-oriented programming language

Additional Preferred Skills

+ Knowledge of various digital camera interfaces including IEEE-1394, USB2 and USB3, CameraLink and Gigabit Ethernet

+ Basic understanding of software, electrical engineering and/or embedded systems fundamentals
